Hello!

And good day on this first day of Autumn!

It felt like Fall outside this morning. I opened up the doors to allow the fresh Autumn air to filter through the house (and to allow the dogs the option to come in and go out. I have a few pine cones in the house now). 😉

I finally finished my second edit on Magnolia Grove. It’s ready to go to an editor for another look. Hopefully, I will be able to publish it soon. Most likely, I am going to try self-publishing this time. It’s a lot faster than traditional. Several traditionally published authors are turning to self-publishing, so I thought I’d give it a try.

I am also working on my third manuscript: Finding Jake. This should be my next book published, after Magnolia Grove. And, I am going to write a book for a series: Karma’s Coven, which is an author friend’s “baby.” Her name is Hope Welsh. If you like paranormal, look her up on Amazon.

Well, I hope you have a great week! Now, back to work for me!

How Did Grammar Get This Complicated?

Good Morning!

It feels awesome outside this morning in South Georgia! Autumn is in the air, and we can breathe again! It’s mornings such as these that make me wish we had a nice back porch or patio with a table and chairs. I would definitely be sitting outside working, especially if I had a laptop.

Things to purchase/build/projects:

redo patio

purchase table and chairs set

purchase a laptop

Instead of being outside enjoying the fresh crisp air, I’m stuck back here in my room on my PC. But, for now, that’s okay.

I have begun to read/study The Chicago Manual of Style-or should I say that I am attempting to read/study. My brain is saying, “wth?” lol

I don’t remember Grammar and Composition being this complicated in High School! I loved it back then! I could take any sentence you wanted to give me, no matter how complex, and break that ‘baby’ down into little bits. It was fun to me. I considered them puzzles to solve.

Now……

The “older” (I will never say ‘old’) brain is saying, ‘I don’t remember all of this stuff’. Plus, I think they’ve added some things. Of course, that was back in the 70’s, and a lot of the rules have changed since then.

But it seems as though  ‘the powers that be’ are uncertain what is correct. Or, perhaps it’s just me. I researched books on the topic and found different things. So, I decided it best to stick to The Chicago Manual of Style, as suggested to me by a friend. She’s a good editor. Check out her facebook page: Arizona Edit.

Have a great week!

What’s next?

Good morning!

I have my second manuscript almost ready for publication. The name of it is: Magnolia Grove. Here is the blurb.

The death of Cassie Long’s mother brings about drastic changes in her life, forcing her to face the demons of her painful past. Returning home, she learns her mother’s death was not from natural causes.

Meeting the handsome neighbor, Max Phillips, Cassie can’t see him as the menace everyone describes him to be. Although she learns of Max’s persistence on buying the family farm, she continues to fall for the sexy hunk, trusting he isn’t using her to get the farm.

Sightings of an unusual man has Cassie feeling as if she is being stalked. She learns of a half-brother who wants what she has and will do whatever necessary to get it-even if it means killing her.

Hopefully, it won’t be long before I can submit it!

Are you good at blogging?

Are you good at Blogging? If so, I could use some pointers.  😉

I read an article by Anne R. Allen a couple of days ago: Blogging for Authors: How to Create a Blog that can Grow With Your Career. Someone shared the link on Facebook.

Well, I basically learned some, if not all, of what I was thinking about doing with this blog was not what I needed to do. Figures. I’d told you I knew nothing about this stuff.

Anyway, I learned a lot and need to learn more. Do you know of any good articles that would help us learn? Are you, too, trying to learn this craft?

I knew I would forget!

I always do. I always forget to blog!

Oh, well. Actually, this time I can say it’s for a good reason.

I’ve been researching, refreshing my knowledge of the craft, working on deciding whether to make Magnolia Grove(a second manuscript not yet published) into a series.

I think I will.

I’ve already started Book 2. But I wasn’t sure if I had enough characters, enough backgrounds, place description, yada, yada. I have been going back and listing all of them. I’m pretty certain I have a good start.

I might post about one or two of the characters to give you an idea of who the characters are. And I will post a blurb. Soon. I need to write one first. I just realized I don’t have one. Yet. 😉

Have a good day!
